Direct-to-Garment (DTG): Kornit Atlas
Setting up a Kornit Atlas DTG station for your operator.
This guide explains how to configure print profiles and platen assignments for Kornit printers using CSV files. These configurations control which printer setup and platen are selected for each product based on its attributes.
How It Works
Two CSV files drive the configuration:
| File | Purpose | Inputs | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| kornit_setup_config.csv | Assigns a Print Profile to each product | Product, Color, Size | Setup |
| kornit_table_config.csv | Assigns a Platen to each product | Product, Size | Platen |
In each file, the last column is the output value. All other columns are inputs used for matching. Every input column is optional — leave a column blank to create a broader rule that applies to more products.
The system resolves configuration from most specific to least specific, so a row that matches on Product + Color + Size will always take priority over a row that matches on Product alone.
Input Fields
Product
Identifies which product a rule applies to. You can specify:
- A product code — targets a single product (e.g., 18000, NL6210)
- A product category — targets all products in that category:
- Hoodie — applies to all hoodie products
- Sweatshirt — applies to all sweatshirt products
Leave the Product column blank to create a default rule that applies when no other product-specific rule matches.
Color
Determines print profile selection based on garment color. You can specify:
- An exact color name (e.g., White, Black, Red, Granite Heather)
- A color group to match multiple colors at once:
| Color Group | Matches |
|---|---|
| WhiteVariants | White, Ash, Natural |
| BlackVariants | Black, Jet Black, Deep Black |
| HeatherVariants | Dark Heather, Granite Heather, Natural Heather, etc. |
| Colors | All non-white, non-black colors |
Color matching priority:
- An exact color name match is checked first.
- If no exact match is found, the system checks color groups.
- If no color is specified, the rule applies regardless of garment color.
Size
Used to assign a specific platen or print profile to certain sizes (e.g., routing XS garments to a smaller platen).
Leave the Size column blank if the rule should apply to all sizes.
Output Fields
Setup (Print Profile)
The Setup column in kornit_setup_config.csv determines which printer setup template is used.
Examples:
- All white hoodies → Hoodie-White-Setup
- Black Gildan 18000 → 18000-BlackOnly (black ink–only mode)
Platen
The Platen column in kornit_table_config.csv determines which platen is used for printing.
Examples:
- All sweatshirts → Standard pallet
- Gildan 18000 in size XS → RSS - 10.6x13.2
Supported Platen Names
Standard Platens
| Platen Name |
|---|
| Children pallet large |
| Youth ladies pallet |
| Zipper hoodie pallet |
| Standard pallet |
| Tote bag |
RSS Platens
| Platen Name |
|---|
| RSS - 10.6x13.2 |
| RSS - 11x5 |
| RSS - 11x10 |
| RSS - 11x15 |
| RSS - 14.1x16.7 |
| RSS - 14.3x19.9 |
| RSS - 15.1x19.9 |
| RSS - 15.9x11.75 |
| RSS - 15.9x13.1 |
| RSS - 15.9x14.25 |
| RSS - 15.9x19.9 |
Atlas Platen Aliases
The following Atlas-style names are also accepted and map to the corresponding platens above:
| Atlas Name |
|---|
| Atlas - Baby |
| Atlas - Children (L) |
| Atlas - Children (S) |
| Atlas - Neck Tag |
| Atlas - Standard |
| Atlas - Tote bag |
| Atlas - Youth and Ladies |
| Atlas - Zipper hoodie |
Resolution Logic
When the system processes a print job, it looks for the most specific matching rule in the CSV and falls back to broader rules as needed.
Print Profile Resolution
| Priority | Match Criteria | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (highest) | Product + Color + Size | Exact match on all three attributes |
| 2 | Product + Color | Matches product and color; any size |
| 3 | Product only | Matches product; any color and size |
| 4 (lowest) | Default row | Catch-all when no other rule matches |
Platen Resolution
| Priority | Match Criteria | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (highest) | Product + Size | Exact match on product and size |
| 2 | Product only | Matches product; any size |
| 3 (lowest) | Default row | Falls back to Standard pallet |
CSV Examples
Print Profile (kornit_setup_config.csv)
| Product | Color | Size | Setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| (blank) | (blank) | (blank) | Default-Setup |
| Hoodie | WhiteVariants | Hoodie-White-Setup | |
| Hoodie | BlackVariants | Hoodie-Black-Setup | |
| NL6210 | White | NL6210-White-Setup | |
| NL6210 | Colors | NL6210-Color-Setup | |
| 18000 | Black | L | 18000-BlackOnly |
Reading this table: The first row is the default — it applies when no other rule matches. The last row is the most specific — it only applies to product 18000 in Black and size L.
Platen Mapping (kornit_table_config.csv)
| Product | Size | Platen |
|---|---|---|
| (blank) | (blank) | Standard pallet |
| Hoodie | RSS - 15.9x19.9 | |
| Sweatshirt | RSS - 11x15 | |
| 18000 | XS | RSS - 11x10 |
Reading this table: All hoodies use the RSS - 15.9x19.9 platen. If product 18000 is size XS, it uses RSS - 11x10; otherwise it falls back to Standard pallet.
Best Practices
- Always include a default row (all input columns blank) as a catch-all to ensure every product receives a valid configuration.
- Use color groups (WhiteVariants, BlackVariants, HeatherVariants, Colors) to write fewer rules that cover more products.
- Add product-specific rows only when a product requires different behavior from the default or category-level rule.
- Order does not matter — the system resolves by specificity, not by row position in the CSV.
